Another brand story with brand design process...

I thought and thought and finally decided to share this fictional brand story with you...

So when I finished the ‘Freshly baked yummies’ brand designing, I knew I had nothing more to do except wait till I somehow find another client…

But to do that, I needed more work to show.

So I created a passion project.

This branding was for a cafe, inspired by Turkish style and culture.

Now, let’s not get into the political affairs of India and Turkey because I did this before everything went abyss.

So I have some obsession with branding a cafe someday.

And here I was creating this fictional one, a passion project kind.

A cafe where travellers meet from around the world and come to share their experience, where they get to indulge and explore Turkey’s culture and food, and beverages.

I also wanted this cafe to stand as a mini cozy library for readers and story lovers.

In short, it becomes a home for travellers, storytellers, and book lovers.

Now, since this was a passion project, I had no brief from anyone else.

So I had to first think of a name.

I came up with Kahfe.

Coffee is called Kahve in Turkish. And so the Kah comes from here. The fe comes from Cafe.

That makes Kahfe. A Turkish-inspired cafe.

Now, let’s get into designing. Most designing needs a lot of backstory, the vision and mission, and why.

But since this was a passion project and only I had this imagery vision and mission to have a place for travellers, book lovers, and storytellers, designing this was a tough one.

Being an amateur was a tough one.

So I started looking for inspiration and thinking of ideas.

As usual, I did some research and finally started jotting down my ideas roughly on my iPad, along with some visual representation of the ideas.

But I still felt stuck, as to how I would try to come up with something that’s unique and yet eye-catching.

(In between figuring out a logo for Kahfe, I tried to sketch a logo for my own brand with my own name) Please ignore that. LOL!

So I started with some rough sketches to get all the basic ideas out.

It is said that the first 20 to 25 ideas will always suck.

However, I haven’t yet gone that far.

Yes, I always do some rough sketches to get rid of the initial clutter ideas…

And then finally, I came up with an idea that felt like something to give it a try.

Now, let me present the final output.

This is the final output of the entire ‘KAHFE’ brand I designed.

Let me explain…

The colors I chose were something really out of the blue; I just wanted something warm, earthy, yet bold.

And, so I choose this color palette, which I feel is somewhat close to the vibe I would want to have if this cafe were to actually come to life.

The logo gives a feeling of an Arabic look with Turkey’s Galata Tower rooted up for Turkey, and the Turkish-style tea cup, which is used in the logo as well as stands for the secondary logo. , and somehow the tail of the teacup was not planned, but it kind of looks like a cat tail to me… Lol!

I am told there are lots of cats on Istanbul streets.

The other aspects of the brand are more related to spilling your stories, what’s brewing with your coffee?

It’s more like telling your tale while you enjoy every sip of coffee.

And even like, even cup of coffee has a tale to tell.

These are some branding/marketing quotes one can use to promote the cafe as well.

(I know I am smart. hehe!)

The mock-up design you see on the mug and paper cup was supposed to get edited because a lot of people gave me the suggestion to actually re-work on it.

Perhaps, I haven’t yet figured that part out.

The above design is the design that you see on the mock-up.

It was just a random design and nothing more, but somehow I loved it and wanted to keep it as it is.

This is still better; the previous one was a bit cluttered. This is what I settled on and then didn’t change anything.

The basic idea behind my style of branding is to have cute doodles and a bit of imperfection, raw and bold. Kind of different from what others try to do.

So this is how I built the cafe “Kahfe’ brand, and I know it really sounds exciting to have a place as such, perhaps, let this be my business idea that some day I would like to see it come to life.

I have another cafe branding idea already in process, which I will be talking about in the next newsletter.

So stay tuned till next Wednesday.

Till then, stay healthy and keep yourself sane enough to work for your dreams.
